BaseCamp upgrade is it worth it for a Semi-Hobby Startup?
I know the consensus out there will be yes… but think about it in the prospectus of a pre-launch no money startup… expenses are vital to be kept on a low since once launched bandwidth and hosting expenses will rack up if the project takes off.
BaseCamp is certainly a pre-launch expense.. the starting price is $12 a month thats $144 a year. A significant amount if you consider the major expense so far has been a domain name.. and at Go Daddy thats just $6.95 a year with a source code.
I know you will say that if its a project worth it and serious about then the expenses are necessary. but what about semi-hobby web projects?? the point i’m bringing across is maybe Basecamp should have a 1 project upgrade with all the features, no limits for say $1 or $2 a month. that would be $12 a year… not too bad only twice as much as go daddy :-)
